Food waste is a major problem across the world, and while food sharing and conservation programs are making a dent in the issue, some students in Rotterdam decided that they wanted to tackle this issue in a more creative way. Nearly 8,000 tons of fruit is tossed out in Rotterdam every day. So these students decided to take that fruit and turn it into “leather” that can be used to make bags, wallets, and maybe even someday, upholstery.
