When designing the home, one of the main issues that the architects faced was lack of privacy. Since the development is filled with small plots, most of the homes are built very close to one another, meaning that there isn’t much your neighbor can’t hear or see. As a solution, Guz decided to build a solid wall on each side of the home that faced another house without blocking off the gorgeous views that attract people to the area.

In order to maintain access to the scenery, Guz built gardens or terraces on each of the four levels of the home. “The intention was to try to allow that each roof garden provided a base for the storey above allowing the layered effect to make each storey feel like it was a single storey dwelling sitting in a garden,” write the architects. They also took care not to have the solid walls block air and light from getting into the home by creating a central skylight and stairwell which funnels daylight and sea breezes through the house.
