Tumbleweed's tiny houses are great for those who dream about living in small places - and now we have learned that a Tumbleweed XS in Ohio will go on auction tonight in order to support the Toledo Museum of Art. Two local firms, The Andersons and the Lathrop Company, donated funds, labor, materials, and skills to build one of Tumbleweed's tiniest homes for the museum. Although it is part of their current Small Worlds exhibit, the 65-square-foot structure goes on auction tonight, and by the first week of April, a happy new owner will walk away with the world's smallest house!
The eBay auction starts at 7 pm EST and bidding will close on April 8, 2012, according to the Toledo Museum’s press coordinator Teri Sharp. She explained that funds raised during the auction will be used to finance the museum’s community outreach programs. Proud to be a part of their Small World’s exhibit, the tiny house movement’s founder Jay Shafer will be speaking about architectural design at the art museum this evening.
Although there are numerous informal homes that are far smaller than 65 sq ft, the Tumbleweed XS is equipped with cooking facilities, a small loft, a built in desk, a lavatory, and all other amenities required to live comfortably. Check out 7 other awesome Tumbleweed houses that won’t be listed on eBay, but are still pretty cool.
