These 3D-printed off-grid tiny houses can withstand hurricanes and earthquakes

These 3d-printed <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/off-grid-homes/" target="_blank">off-grid homes</a>, manufactured by Ukrainian startup<a href="http://passivdom.com/en/" target="_blank"> PassivDom</a>, are not only completely self-sufficient, but can also withstand hurricanes and earthquakes. The "gadget houses" use <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/solar-power/" target="_blank">solar power</a> for all its energy requirements and come as fully furnished modules with self-learning control systems that users can manage remotely by smartphone.

The houses use solar energy to satisfy all the energy needs of their occupants: climate control (heating and cooling), air humidity, air quality and carbon dioxide levels.

tate-of-the-art engineering systems integrated into the designs include an air recuperation system, a heat pump for heating and cooling with a remote-controlled thermostat hub, an air quality medic HEPA system, a photovoltaic off-grid system powered by LiFePO2 batteries, a gray water filtration system with heat recovery, heat energy storage, a boiler and a water tank.

The impressive performance makes these modular homes versatile, offering perfect living conditions in any climate and topography.

Because the structures don't have foundations, they are easy to transport and assemble in any configuration like Legos.

An industrial 3D-printer robot prints the house layer by layer using manipulators and printing materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, polyurethane and resins, all of which are easy to recycle.
