London is in a league of its own. Currently on sale through Sotheby’s International Realty, the home’s swimming pool sits under a glass ceiling. Spaced Out Architects and the current owners, also designers, collaborated in renovating and extending the 18th century Georgian townhouse, transforming it into a modern family dwelling.
Spaced Out Architects, led by James Engel, renovated the existing Grade II listed 18th century Georgian house, extending it after the demolition of a 20th century industrial workshop that covered the original garden. The house is located in the heart of Clerkenwell and has recently been shortlisted in The Sunday Times’ British Homes Awards 2016.
The residence spreads across five floors and has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, three reception rooms and three roof terraces. A open-air courtyard features a beautiful cherry blossom tree. A combination of traditional and contemporary materials channels the architects’ focus on light, materials and memory. The clean decor of the house is combined with smart technology, while the roof terraces provide incredible views of the city, St. Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard.
