Vietnam Constructs World’s Largest Dragon-Shaped Bridge – And It Breathes Fire!

To celebrate the 38th anniversary of the liberation of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Da_Nang">Da Nang</a>, the government of Vietnam has constructed the <a href="http://english.vietnamnet.vn/fms/society/70067/inauguration-of-world-s-largest-dragon-shaped-steel-in-da-nang.html">world's largest dragon-shaped bridge</a> over the Han River. Not only is it the steel bridge the largest of its type in the world, but it is covered in over <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/led/">2,500 LED lights</a> - and it breathes fire!

Construction on Vietnam's massive 545-foot dragon bridge began in 2009. Now, four years and $85 million later, the eye-catching bridge is complete.

It is unconfirmed whether fire breathing will occur when traffic is on the bridge.

Not only does the Dragon Bridge breathe fire for festivals and special occasions - it can also blast water spouts into the air!

The bridge it lit up by over 25,000 LED lights.

At night, the Dragon Bridge lights up the skylight in a myriad of colors.

"This achievement is the result of the determination of Da Nang’s leaders and the consensus of the local people. The Government always supports Da Nang to become the center of economic, cultural, and economic development in the central and Central Highlands region as well as the country", the Deputy Prime Minister said in<a href="http://english.vietnamnet.vn/fms/society/70067/inauguration-of-world-s-largest-dragon-shaped-steel-in-da-nang.html"> a statement</a>.

The <a href="http://www.louisberger.com/">Louis Berger Group</a> designed the six-lane bridge to emulate the shape of the dragon in the Ly Dynasty. It is also currently the only the bridge with a single steel arch in Southeast Asia.
