  I just attended a great picnic spot. It was across the street from a hike I had just been on to Ensign Peak in the Salt Lake Valley, where you can see the whole valley. It was raining so we went to the park across the street and ate under the vines. However, the top of Ensign Peak is a wonderful place to eat a picnic at, overlooking the valley.

  On warm summer days we love to drive up the coast to Big Sur, in California. We take a bottle of local Paso Robles wine and lots of snacks from our Farmers Market. My favorite picnic food is slices of baguette, spread with mascarpone cheese, topped with fresh figs and a drizzle of local honey.. our 1 year old daughter Harper even loves them!

  My favorite green picnic spot is on the 11th Street beach on Tybee Island Georgia. We were blessed to live there for a year, and were able to enjoy the coast for all four seasons.

  My new favorite picnic spot is the brilliant SoundScape park in front of the also-brilliant new home of the New World Symphony (the former designed by Adriaan Geuze of West 8 and the latter by Frank Gehry). Pack a supper, add in a bottle of wine, grab a blanket and settle in for the sights and sounds of a concert broadcast (they call it a Wallcast) against the building wall. It's amazing!

  I would LOVE to win this picnic set. It is so gorgeous! For sure I love nature and eating outside. One of my favorite places is at Edgewater park in Cleveland Ohio. I'm just a few miles away from the beach and there are a number of lovely parks in the area but Edgewater is the loveliest. Typically I will eat my picnic either on the edge of the pier with my toes in the water or I will eat with my feet in the surf. It is so soothing feeling the sand between my toes while enjoying a lovely sandwich. Pun intended.

  It's hard to beat a summer picnic. And there are so many great locations to choose from. But I think right now I'd have to say my favorite is the beach located only 15 blocks from my house -- Ocean Beach here in San Francisco. I only moved here 4 months ago and I still revel in how wonderful it is to have the ocean so close to my home.

  Well, I love picnics. I grew up on Sanibel Island, FL and had quite a few "sandy picnics" on the beach; Outside Munich, Germany had some "amazing-view picnics" in the Alps; Enjoyed a "hot, dry, dusty picnic" with my husband and puppy in Sedona, AZ; had a "wet & slightly sticky rainforest picnic" in Washington state; but like so many have said, my favorite picnic spot is with family at home in Ohio. I lost my grandparents this past year, but was lucky to inherit their picnic table which had been on their back porch my entire life. Lots of simple meals-tuna fish sandwiches, pickles, chips, & iced tea, along with heated games of UNO or Eucher were had on that table over the last 40 years. It's amazing how many memories can be tied to a place or a piece of furniture. Really great memories! Happy summer, everyone!!

  My favorite picnic spot is at my boyfriends mothers house chilling with his family. They have this little patio that reminds me of a bistro combined with gorgeous trees, a lush lawn, and there is always a breeze. And of course, I love chilling with them, always a good conversation to be had.

  My husband & I love to picnic in the Outer Banks of North Carolina @Hatteras Beach. The sand dunes are beautiful, and the beach is so clean & quiet. It's wonderful that people respect it like they do.

  Tomales Bay oyster farm. They have grills and picnic tables with shucking stations. Hardly vegetarian, but when you've gotten a fresh bag of oysters, cut some lemons, uncapped the hot sauce, it will not matter!

  My favorite green picnic spot would have to be Sutro Baths in San Francisco, a modern ruins on the edge of the peninsula. It is quite a visually striking location complete with rocks, sands, wild flowers, grasslands, and crashing waves against a majestic blue sky. The crumbling and nostalgic stone structures remind me of a time past where spacious rooms, elevators, alcoves, corridors, gardens, and of course, outdoor baths that existed more than a century ago. It is the perfect getaway from the busy city life, nothing but nature, cliffs, wet sand, and salty ocean breezes. My friends and I always come there with a basket full of freshly picked fruits, several types of cheeses and crackers and a few bottles of good Sonoma wines. With good books and good conversation, a picnic there can easily be the best way to spend a sunny summer afternoon.

  Vegan Fried Green Tomatoes :) ½ cup whole wheat or unbleached all purpose flour ½ cup unsweetened soy milk (plain works too, but is a little sweeter) ½ cup yellow cornmeal 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon onion powder ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (feel free to season to taste with pinches of cumin, curry powder, smoked paprika, etc.) 2 medium-sized firm green tomatoes, cores removed and sliced into 1/3” slices ¼ inch canola oil in a 10-inch skillet Heat oil over medium-high heat until a drop off water sizzles briskly. Watch oil closely and remove from heat if it starts to smoke. Meanwhile, place flour, soy milk and cornmeal into three separate small bowls. Divide the salt equally among all three. Add ¼ teaspoon of both the garlic and onion powders and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper to both the flour and the cornmeal. Stir to combine well. Dip each tomato slice into flour, then soy milk, then cornmeal, coating well. Place into oil and cook for a couple of minutes or until golden brown. Carefully flip and repeat on the opposite side. Drain on paper towel or brown paper. Sprinkle with a little more salt and serve with the sauce of your choice. I prefer my Tahini Topping which can be dressed up in myriad ways. I like a plain version of the topping with a sprinkling of capers.

  A picnic on our new recycled plastic deck in the green-living Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI that sits right on Lake Michigan where neighbors do everything from "Move Grass, Grow Food" in their own yards to replanting wetlands along the coast. This set would be perfect to help our efforts of educating our neighbors all about the materials we choose for our outdoor living space!

  My favorite place for a picnic is on a wooden picnic table, in the mountains, at the beach, anywhere inbetween, and on the way to the destination; stop, get out the ole' tablecloth, and the food in ice chests and containers of "homemade" goodies. You can't beat an old fashioned picnic table, where you are side-by-side or face-to-face with friends and loved ones.

  Now, before you stop me to say "Hey! You're in Canada, we can't ship this super awesome chair to you" let me finish. Picnic stuff, I could use - and it would be small and easy to ship. We picnic all the time, my daughter, husband, and I. And this picnic set looks marvelous! The chair? I'd ask that you donate it to a local charity (green or humanitarian). They could use it or use it to raise funds. All in all? I'd say my winning would be a darn good thing. :)

  My favorite picnic days begin with a bike ride over to the west side of Manhattan. Setting up anywhere along the Hudson River greenway is the best break from the pulse of the city. Not everyone knows how this area used to look... I for one love to take full advantage of all the beautiful plants and renovations that have been implemented recently. River water flowing by, sail boats, happy people out enjoying good weather, and a basket full of cheese, fruits, and nuts. Delightful.

  Hocking Hills Ohio is by far the most gorgeous place on this planet to have summer (and any season) picnics. Old Man's Cave and the many scenic waterfalls and views that are in the immediate area is Mother Nature at her finest. The entire area is so much "eye candy" that it is almost overwhelming. To sit in one of your fine Emmet Lounge chairs and soak up the surroundings while having a summer picnic is the ultimate treat and something that everybody on this planet should experience.   Oh that is the most beautiful outdoor chair! I wonder if I will have to purchase a whole set for our school. Our favorite picnic spot is just across the street in this vast wildflower meadow just at the foot of Talcott Mountain in Simsbury, CT. Being surrounded by hummingbirds, red finches, and sweet smelling sunshing air is perfect for any day away from the world. Thank you for this very cool and very summertime-inspired collection.   My favorite picnic place is the beach on Long Island, specifically West Lido Beach. It's a little known town beach because the entrance is not clearly marked. A perfect beach picnic would have cold ripe peaches, pink wine and cheese and crackers! Oh I must plan this now!

  My fav. picnic spot is at my grandma's in Goa, India. Not far from her house is a spot where part of the sea comes inland cutting off the beach from a small hill. You can walk or drive by road to the side of the mountain. Its perfect for a picnic. You sit on the base of the hill and watch the waves crash inland, right below your feet. You can sense the power of nature. Thats just perfect.

  My favorite picnic spot I just discovered a couple of months ago. I got to take my 7 year old to a science camp in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument and after a long (long for kids) hike we were at the top of the hills where we had our lunch. Since it was the National Monument we had to be extra careful to not even leave any crumbs behind. It was gorgeous and I would love to go back.

  My favorite picnic is with my little dog MimiSo or shared with a couple of girlfriends (the doggies love to wrestle). Ocean View Park overlooking the Monterey Bay is always lots of fun for a game of catch. We're planning to build a covered deck (and change out the windows to low-e) on a friend's beach house duplex near the park very soon... the chair would be a perfect place to sit overlooking her new back yard. A great house warming present.

  My favorite picnic is taking my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter Lily to Smugglers Notch, Vermont. It is a little slice of heaven between Jeffersonville and Stowe, Vermont, high in the hills with winding 15 mph roads and wonderful picnic areas and hiking trails. Lily and I love to share Vermont cheese, freshly baked organic bread and "baby" oranges (mandarins) along with apple juice for her and bottled water for me. How nice it would be to have your picnic basket to carry our feast! Happy Holidays.

  My favorite summer picnic spot is on top of Mount Tabor in Portland, OR. Nothing beats the views you get, on a cloudless summer day, of Mount Hood and the city of Portland! Add to it the lively atmosphere you get when everyone comes out of their dwellings to enjoy the sun. Absolutely relaxing! Watermelon Drink Take 1/2 a watermelon and remove the shell and seeds. Cut into pieces and place into a blender until 3/4 full. Add a 1/2 cup of water and blend. Add sugar as needed for flavor. Delicious!

  A picnic requires three things to make it amazing: good food, good people and location, location, location! I have a basket ready to roll that contains an Italian Feast. I'd choose the company of good people I've known for 25 years. The location: Green can be subtle and lush, but the Utah desert is divine! I'd pack my picnic to the rolling red sand dunes of Southern Utah. The sound of nature silent and then whispers of wildlife. The sage scattered terrain that offers little shade makes the sun's rays a warm delight.

  I just met and started dating an amazing, sweet, cute guy. We met at Egin Lake in the Sand Dunes locally. I think it would be amazing to take a picnic back there together.
