World’s Largest Legoland Waterpark to Open in Malaysia

LEGO enthusiasts around the world unite: the world’s largest <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/" target="_blank">Legoland Water Park</a> is underway in Malaysia. Spanning over three million square feet, the waterpark will be packed with 20 attractions, 70 models, and of course tons of human-sized <a href="http://inhabitat.com/big-unveils-concept-plans-for-the-lego-house-museum-in-denmark/" target="_blank">LEGO bricks</a> and characters. Only the third Legoland Water Park in the world, the new Malaysian outpost is slated to be open to <a href="http://inhabitat.com/legoland-windsor-builds-worlds-tallest-lego-tower-using-over-500000-bricks/" target="_blank">LEGO fans</a> in October.

Kids and adults alike can splash around amongst <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nathan-sawayas-must-see-lego-art-exhibition-comes-to-new-york/" target="_blank">Lego characters</a> in the pools, or down waterslides.

Unique to the Malaysian park, fans will be able to play with oversized soft Lego bricks in “Build-a-Raft-River,” creating their own LEGO boats and rafts to float down the lazy river.

The “Joker Soaker” will let kids squirt water cannons at a joke-telling LEGO jester, or at each other. Duplo blocks will also come to life in a themed area for the little kids, including toddler-sized slides and LEGO characters like alligators, polar bears and elephants. The entire park is geared toward children aged 2 to 12, accompanied by their parents of course.

The waterpark joins the new Legoland Park, opened last September in Iskandar, just 30 miles outside of Singapore, marking the first in Asia.

The park has over 50 million <a href="http://inhabitat.com/lego-to-release-star-wars-ewok-village-in-september/" target="_blank">LEGO bricks</a> on site, which are built into installations, sculptures and characters throughout, as well as restaurants, private cabanas and theme stores.

Another <a href="http://inhabitat.com/north-americas-first-lego-hotel-opens-this-spring-in-carlsbad-california/legoland-hotel2/" target="_blank">Legoland Hotel</a> is also planned on the site, but won’t be open until 2014. The Legoland Waterpark Malaysia is already 70% complete and is expected to open on time.
