Young designer Yuhan Zhang, the creator of the gorgeous Volkswagen Aqua Hovercraft, is at it again, this time creating a pneumatic diesel hybrid mini car called the Aeolus for a sporty urban future. The project was supervised by Chinese automaker Geely, and the designer hopes to have his vehicle to market in just a few years, though it appears that some details still need to be ironed out in the design. See our photo gallery for the details on what makes this concept a diamond in the rough for certain urban markets.
A small pneumatic hybrid like the Aeolus would likely be best received in India or China, where an unusual but inexpensive propulsion system and a small car body could be very popular. Details like the side-view mirrors and side body faux air scoops would need a little refinement before production, but the aggressive and streamlined shape overall have potential. Zhang would like to get the Aeolus to market for just $8,000 by 2014, which is an optimistic timeline, but keep an eye out for his vehicle designs in Geely’s future lineups.
