Zip Kit offers up a variety of compact homes – from studio sized houses to three bedroom homes ranging in prices from $40,000 to $185,000 depending on finishes. Timberhawk Homes has been building prefab homes for over 20 years now. They are now fabricated in a new factory in central Utah’s Mt. Pleasant. The Zip Kit line was started in 2011 in order to focus on building extremely efficient dwellings. The company believes that building bigger is not better and that a smaller home is simpler, less expensive, and better for the environment.
All of their designs are factory built to minimize waste. In fact, the company estimates their method generates 80 percent less waste and is built up to five times faster than a standard built home. Energy efficient systems include the use of Energy Star Appliances, mini-split heating and cooling systems, tankless on-demand hot water heaters and LED lighting. The envelope makes use of insulated, double pane windows with Low-E glazing and argon gas filled cavities along with polyurethane spray foam insulation. Each home comes pre-wired for photovoltaics and can be customized with exterior finishes, cabinetry and more.
