Designed for Gordon Graham, the 1,225 sq ft home was built as a desert retreat from the cold winters of British Colombia. Graham happened to hear about Blue Sky Homes on his way to the Coachella Music Festival and looked up the builder as he made his way through Palm Springs. He decided on the firm because of both the simple, yet efficient design as well as the ability to have a minimal environmental impact, site the home in a difficult and tucked away location and minimize maintenance as much as possible. The home features an open kitchen, living and dining area, with two bedrooms that share a bath and a large steel deck off the front.
The parts for the desert home are prefabricated off site and then delivered and assembled, which minimizes impact and speeds up construction time. The walls are steel thermal efficient panels made with expanded polystyrene with an extra layer of batt insulation and are clad in HardieBoard and corrugated sheet metal. Pricing for Blue Sky Homes start at $220 per sq ft and go up to $320 and include full architectural plans, engineering, all construction labor, and full project management of your home’s construction.
