7 Bryant Park LEED Gold Office Building to Break Ground in Midtown Today

We’ve been patiently following [6] the development of new green office building 7 Bryant Park [7], which will finally be breaking ground today. The state of the art building, designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners [8] and developed by Hines Development, will offer 470,000 square feet of LEED-certified [9] office space. Located on the corner of 40th Street and Sixth Avenue the project is slated to be completed by the end of 2014. The project’s mission is to create a building that can offer small and modest-sized companies big business infrastructure.

The building will also boast 28-stories of spectacular views of Bryant Park, ample lighting and easy-to-access trips to Times Square and Grand Central Station. The structure’s glass will consist of low-iron insulating glass [11] that will increase thermal performance while maximizing transparency and visible light transmittance.

Also included in the plans for the new iconic Manhattan project will be two outdoor terraces and a green roof [12]. The project, which brought on Viridian Energy & Environmental [13] as sustainable design consultants, utilizes energy-saving mechanical systems and co-generation and is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.
