Nature Centre Hindsgavl is an Energy-Efficient Earth-Bermed Building in Denmark

<a href="http://aart.dk/projects#_node-303" target="_blank">Hindsgavl</a> is new nature center in Middlefart, Denmark to help enjoy the outdoors in the Hindsgavl Nature Reserve. Designed by <a href="http://aart.dk/" target="_blank">AART</a>, Nature Centre Hindsgavl was built as an energy-efficient building to minimize impact on the surrounding reserve. Built into the side of a slope and covered with an earthen roof, the center is sheltered from the weather. Natural materials reflect the surroundings and large windows draw daylight into the interior and provide visitors with views of the landscape.

Nature Centre Hindsgavl is a sustainable activity and outdoor center in Middlefart, Denmark.

The center captures views of the surrounding nature reserve, compliments its beauty and also provides information about the surrounding area, which includes the nearby <a href="http://www.hindsgavl.dk/" target="_blank">Hindsgavl Castle</a>.

Inside the center provides space for teaching, exhibitions, office space, as well as facilities for scouts, school children and other visitors who enjoy the outdoor life.

Visitors can also enjoy the outdoor gardens or walk up onto the roof from the adjacent slope and take in the views of the reserve and interact with the landscape.

To minimize impact on the surrounding nature, <a>AART</a> designed the facility to be as energy efficient as possible.

Built into the side of the slope, the nature center is earth-bermed to help stabilize interior temperatures.

The earthen roof provides additional insulation, soaks up rainwater and extends green space on top of the building. Interior walls are clad in wood to bring nature indoors and large windows frame views and fill the space with natural daylight.
