Gallery: Abandoned Buildings Turned In...
The photos calmly depict suffocatingly cramped sites
As opposed to excavating the sites, Teeumen fills them with carefully stacked debris – a technique that has resurfaced in her work since 2005. She typically creates films, studio photos and drawings as key parts of her projects that accompany her installations.
The surfaces within this series of photographs portray layered fragments crammed into rooms that appear on the verge of collapse, yet these pieces are meticulously arranged to create order from chaos.
Symmetrical in their composition, the photos calmly depict suffocating, cramped sites. These visual remnants of the spaces halt the eruption of debris within the buildings, adding a tranquil dimension to their disorder.

It would be nice to see abandoned buildings turned into something for homeless people to live in to get out of the cold and heat
