Designer Asa Karner of Alvi Design recently unveiled her Alvisilkchair at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The beautiful geometric chair has been built from FSC certified oak and is threaded with environmentally friendly silk tightened to a simple frame.
Formed from a series of planar surfaces that act as a back and rest, the Alvisilkchair is a playful and original take on seating. As Experimenta aptly points out, the designer’s inspiration for this lightweight, ethereal chair comes directly from wooden looms, making it a celebration of one of Sweden’s famed traditional crafts.
Karner’s design process is based upon the use of “environmentally friendly materials with a focus on sustainable production methods and humane working conditions”.
