Gallery: ARCHI7’s Prefab MMR House is Made from Recycled Materials and ...

Swiss design firm ARCHI7 designed this prefabricated single-family home in the Swiss town of Réchy, which looks rather ordinary from outside, but the interior is a totally different story. Using natural light, bright colors and plenty of local and recycled materials, the MMR house looks like a great home to hide out in during long, dark Swiss winters.

Built as a single compact volume, ARCHI7’s single-family home has a very small footprint; it is designed to maximize its exposure to the sun. The home’s exteriors are clad with local Mélèze and the interiors with low-cost recycled OSB. Large windows and skylights fill the house with natural light, fresh breeze and stunning views out to the Swiss mountains.

Bold colors, translucent doors and plenty of hidden storage helps to create airy, clean and uncluttered interiors. The concrete flooring is very practical, as it’s durable, cheap and very efficient for keeping the heat inside the house. ARCHI7’s has managed to create a modern no-frills home in a brilliant simple way.
