Torsten Ottesjö’s “Hönshus-1” is a Beautiful, Serene Chicken Refuge by the Sea

This breathtaking wooden <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/hen-house/">hen house</a> was designed by <a href="http://ottesjo.se/">Torsten Ottesjö</a>, who was inspired by the shape of a mother hen curling her wings protectively around her young. "<a href="http://ottesjo.se/Honshus-1">Hönshus-1</a>" is located on the west coast of Sweden, and was built on a steel foundation that was drilled into a sloping rock. Its residents are probably some of the luckiest chickens around, as the house is perched gracefully on a site that looks out over an inlet and is surrounded by a stunning landscape.

The structure was designed to emulate the curve of a protective mother hen's wing.

The design is the second in Torsten's series of biomorphic structures.

They are inspired by nature and improvisation.

His simple concept is complemented by the idea of programming a natural light rhythm within the house.
