With 1,500 rooms, international conference halls, a restaurant, and a whopping 107,000 square foot indoor <a title="Monstrous Beijing National Hotel By Emergent Will House a 107,000 square foot Interior Rainforest" href="http://inhabitat.com/controversial-belo-monte-hydroelectric-dam-in-brazils-amazon-gets-go-ahead/" target="_blank">rainforest</a>, this monster accommodation will be the largest landmark in the Chinese capital, even visible from landing aircrafts.

    Its shiny façade will be made from a lightweight cable-net structure with many windows and skylights that will make the interiors shine while giving providing ample natural light to the interiors and rainforest.

    The hotel’s enclosure structure is made from a double-layer skin system in which the outer layer is weather break and the internal weather proof, forming a thermal enclosure and a thermal buffer zone.

    For watering the array of plants, the façade’s design also includes grooves for efficient rainwater collection.

    Inspired by nature and driven by Emergent’s experience in complex biological and thermal systems, energy efficient solar thermal pipes where also implemented as part of the outer skin.
