BOOMThe designers at BOOM have opened a new sustainable living community outside of Malaga, Spain. The hillside Costa del Sol overlooks the beautiful Lake Vinuela and includes a mix of private homes, lofts and apartments. The towering complex is geared toward the LGBT community.1
BOOMBOOM invited 16 architects (including Metropol Parasol’s J Mayer H) to design the varying spaces to create a community with architectural diversity. To unify the buildings, BOOM enforced one model – the homes were to be based on 10x10 aggregated cubes.2
BOOMThis gives Costa del Sol a consistency and design that meshes with the neighboring historic coastal towns.3
BOOMThe resulting modern community is not only convenient, and located within beautiful landscape, but is also committed to the environment.4
BOOMBOOM plans for the entire complex to be LEED certified; from water efficiency to reduction of energy and CO2 emissions, BOOM neighborhoods are sustainable and eco friendly places to live. Lush vegetation is also an integral part of the property, with olive and almond groves infiltrating the living areas.5
BOOMPhotovoltaic panels soak up sun’s rays, to offset the complex’s energy use greatly, as the area boasts 350 sunshiney days a year. Natural and sustainable building materials, passive cooling, and access to public transportation make Costa del Sol a beautiful and eco friendly new community for the LGBT community.6
