BRC Designs' American Pipe Dream Chair and Table Are Made from a Maze of Copper Piping

The American Pipe dream table and chair were inspired by Benjamin Rollins Caldwell‘s own frustration after some thieves stripped the copper out of one of his welding machines. According to the designer, copper prices are currently at an all time high, and the theft of copper is a growing problem (who knew?). After feeling the pinch of the crime, Caldwell decided to create a furniture set that ironically uses an unnecessarily extravagant amount of the valuable material.

Caldwell used half-inch copper piping for the designs, looping and meandering it into a maze that was “inspired by the Windows computer pipe screen saver“. Both the table and chair were finished with fine glass bead blasting and sealed using an industrial metal sealer.

Cool, but I think I prefer TJ Volonis’ copper furniture.
