Build a Gypsy Wagon in the Woods – All It Takes Is Ingenuity, Elbow Grease And (mostly) Recycled Components!

    <a href="http://inhabitat.com/rustic-and-beautiful-backyard-micro-house-is-built-from-recycled-barnboard/">Tiny homes</a> are popping up all over the place these days, and this particular micro <a href="http://inhabitat.com/modern-bufalino-camper-is-a-miniature-home-on-wheels/">home-on-wheels</a>, fashioned to look like a classic gypsy wagon, is set in the middle of the forest. While it measures a tiny 160 sq.ft., the compact space provides almost everything a person needs for a comfortable <a href="http://inhabitat.com/oregon-man-lives-inside-727-airplane-home-in-the-middle-of-the-woods/">life in the woods</a>. Read on to find out all the intriguing details about this magical place, which we're sure the likes of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/functional-hobbit-holes-lets-you-live-like-frodo-in-your-backyard/">Frodo</a> would be delighted to call home!

    The curved countertop is made from reclaimed wood. The unusual round window is a repurposed 1970’s round picnic tabletop.

    The exterior shingles cost nothing but elbow grease and an artist’s eye. The shingles are made from spruce guitar top 'seconds’ halved and split with a hatchet.

    The tatami mats are inlaid in the lounge/sleeping area. The opening windows are set at eye-level and look out over the hillside to the lake.

    The small three burner propane stove/oven was recycled from a camper van. Aficionados of the growing-in-popularity microhome movement are well versed in sourcing these small components for the home.

    The round window at one end is a repurposed 1970’s round picnic tabletop. The 1 1/2” nautical rope surrounding the window is the perfect flexible weather stripping, inside and out.

    The French doors were purchased secondhand from the classifieds. The stairs can easily taken off and put on again when the wagon is moved.

    With the lexan skylights and a plethora of opening windows, being in the wagon is like being outside, very close to nature.

    The interior countertops, shelves and drawers are completely custom built. The heart of the home is the dwarf-sized “Intrepid” wood heater, capable of creating a cozy space in under 20 minutes, even in the coldest of winters.

    Because of the curve in the roof and the eyebrow entrance, the roofing material is flexible metal sheeting. There is a raised ridge vent and two 3’x4’ raised Lexan curved skylights.
