Casa el Pangue is a stunning house in Chile that opens out over tiered terraces that lead down a sloping hillside. Arranged over four levels, the house was designed by architecture studio Elton + Léniz. The team contrasted the concrete base in the lower levels with timber cladding in the higher areas to exaggerate the home's grounded stance on the descending hill while making the upper volumes appear light and spacious.

Elton + Léniz designed Casa el Pangue to follow the natural course of a steep slope in Chile. The designers terraced every level with the volumes of the building so that each tier faces out to sea and is connected by a series of dramatic staircases. The main walkway from the lowest level car park is a rising staircase that ascends out from under a balcony.

The spectacular view of the Pacific draws residents to the windows, taking full advantage of the home’s site. From the living room, the home extends out towards a large terrace which is surrounded by planters. All of the family rooms and living areas are arranged around this design to create a dynamic sense of space.
