All of the interiors were designed by Confused Direction

Confused Direction was very careful to ensure that their Silverbeaver Hausboot was made of the most efficient materials so that the project has a tiny footprint. To this end, they clad the boat in locally-sourced Larch wood, which doesn’t contrast at all with the local environment, Resopal for the kitchen and bathroom surfaces, and super insulated windows.

The boat home is flooded with daylight and heating is provided by a Bullerjan Oven – technology that relies on the convection of heated air. Since this is a relatively small space, the program’s overall carbon footprint is negligible. Two terraces provide a connection with the outdoors, including one on the roof, and all of the interior furnishings were designed by Flo Florian and Sascha Akkermann of Confused Direction, whose awesome work we have featured before.
