Gallery: Cradle is a Flat Pack Chair Designed Specifically for Autistic...

The thoughtfully designed Cradle is a sustainable rocking chair created by a collaborative effort to aid people with autism and Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD). Developed by Richard Clarkson, Grace Emmanual, Kalivia Russel, Eamon Moore, Brodie Cambell, Jeremy Brooker and Joya Boerrigter within the Victoria University of Wellington, this cocoon-like seat is made from cold-bent plywood. Because rocking is one of the calming activities that is recommended for autistic folks, this special seat is a soothing and aesthetically pleasing addition to their homes.

Safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly, Cradle references Ikea furniture design and is conveniently flat packed, minimising packaging and transportation fuel. This rocking chair is manufactured from sustainable materials and processes, including the glue used to form the initial plywood layers and the low energy cold-bending technique that gives shape to the wood. As the designers explain, “the Cradle rocking chair is more than just a solution to a problem, it is literally a home within a home.”

I would like to buy just the cushion. I have a hanging egg chair that this would be perfect for.

Where can I find one of these? I have MS and am fairly sure this would be the best piece of furniture I will EVER purchase.
