David Trubridge’s Flat Pack Lamps Unfold Into Illuminating Masterpieces

    This year the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/wanted-design-showcases-an-international-crop-of-green-designs/">Wanted Design</a> show during <a href="http://inhabitat.com/new-york-design-week/">New York Design Week</a> featured an array of impressive green designs, but it was <a href="http://www.davidtrubridge.com/">David Trubridge</a>'s Seed System Lamps that took center stage. Trubridge set up a towering lamp in the center of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/wanted-design-showcases-an-international-crop-of-green-designs/wanted-design-lobby/?extend=1">La Venue's lobby</a> as well as an incredible booth of multi-dimensional lamps that shined ambient <a href="http://inhabitat.com/icff-2011-the-best-in-green-lighting-design/">light</a> into every corner of the room. It's hard to believe that each of his pieces were brought to the space within boxes measuring just a few inches high - jump ahead for a look at these green design masterpieces.

  • David Trubridge Seed System Lamps Packaged
    The Seed System was designed by <a href="http://www.davidtulbridge.com/">David Trubridge</a> as a <a href="http://inhabitat.com/ablenook-flat-pack-modular-prefab-units-that-come-together-in-a-snap/">flat-pack design</a> that unfolds into a set of hanging lamps that range in size from one to eight feet high.

    The lamp is based upon the design concept of “minimum volume for maximum effect.”

    Trubridge developed a new parametric software program to determine the most efficient way they could be freighted as a kit set that would allow for easy portability and easy assembly at any destination.
