Gallery: Modern Green Social Housing Complex Rises East of Paris

The communal areas are almost all naturally lit and painted in a range of monochromatic greens that contrast with the bright orange of the stairways.

Located on a site in Bondy, a town east of Paris, the new social housing project is bordered by a gymnasium, school and suburban housing on avenue Henri Barbusse. The four-story building is shaped like a U, creating a protected interior courtyard and garden space for use by the residents. The roof of the building is reminiscent of traditional Parisian row houses with lofted ceilings. Daylighting and passive solar design plays a large role in each of the apartments and every room has access to natural light.
