living homes dwellDwell on Design is always a fantastic showcase of great talent creating cutting-edge modern architecture and design, and last weekend’s Dwell on Design 2012 in downtown Los Angeles was no exception. One of the highlights of the show was our tour of the Ecofabulous LivingHome C6. For the first time, an entire prefabricated house - in this case a 1,232 square foot home - was exhibited at Dwell, and the interior was filled with great green furnishings and finishes by some of our favorite designers - read on for a closer look!1
living homes dwellZem Joaquin, founder of Ecofabulous, has long been an advocate of sustainable designs that only look great, but are also affordable for everyone. In the case of the C6 prefab, Joaquin and LivingHomes’ C6 did not disappoint.2

living homes dwellFor parents on a tight budget, Joaquin showed how she scored many of the furnishings on eBay’s Green Hub. She also worked with Kimberly Rider Interiors, who helped find recycled concrete tables by Bevara Design and reclaimed chairs by Environment Furniture.4
living homes dwellOnce again, LivingHomes delivers. The C6 starts at $179,000, or about $145 a square foot. The C6 can be constructed in as little as two months and then assembled on-site in one day.5
living homes dwellWood sourced from Forest Stewardship Council-certified companies lends the home a rustic exterior and warmth and durability on the inside. Cork flooring not only feels comfortable while standing, but demonstrated resilience even when guests with heels plunked their way around the house.6
