Electrolux’s Mobile Cube Restaurant Lands in London Just In Time for the Olympics

    If you'll be in London for the Olympics this summer, be sure to get your reservation at The Cube, <a href="//inhabitat.com/cube-pavilion-mod-green-restaurant-to-pop-up-on-top-of-european-cliffs-and-famous-monuments/">Electroluxes' mobile restaurant</a>. The European tour of the traveling eatery continues to where it is currently located on top of Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre. Designed by <a href="http://www.parkassociati.com/Site.html?lang=EN" target="_blank">Park Associati</a>, the lightweight, super high performance and sustainable one room restaurant is set to show off the skills of some of London's top chefs as well as Electrolux technology. In addition to the <a href="http://www.electrolux.co.uk/Cube/London" target="_blank">London Cube</a>, a twin restaurant is now open <a href="http://www.electrolux.se/cube/stockholm_en" target="_blank">Stockholm</a> on the roof of the Royal Opera House.

    The Cube is a prefabricated, lightweight, mobile restaurant designed by Park Associati to travel around Europe and sit atop famous buildings with spectacular views.

    Starting in the spring of 2011, The Cube sat on the arc of the Parc du Cinquantenaire in <a href="http://inhabitat.com/electrolux-cube-modern-prefab-restaurant-pops-up-atop-brussels-landmark/">Brussels</a> until July when it was dismantled and moved to <a href="http://inhabitat.com/the-mod-green-cube-restaurant-is-now-open-for-reservations-in-milan/">Milan</a>.

    There it perched up on the roof of the Piazza del Duamo from December to April of 2012.

    Now it sits in the heart of London on top of the Royal Festival Hall with views of London's skyline along the river Thames.

    Electrolux sponsors this mobile eatery to help promote its own line of lighting, kitchen appliances and other technologies.

    The traveling project is also designed to showcase local chefs and cuisine.

    The 40 sq meter mobile restaurant itself features a large dining room with a table that can be raised or lowered to provide space for socializing or for dinner.

    High performance and lightweight materials make it possible to keep the space comfortable in a variety of climates and the exterior is covered in a white, laser-cut, aluminum skin that works to maximize daylight and views while reducing solar heat gain.

    This summer we also see the addition of a twin Cube restaurant in Stockholm that opened earlier this week.
