MHM Architects' latest project is a striking energy-efficient boat house on the shores of Milstätter Lake in Austria. The two-story boat house is primed for a low impact life on the shores of the lake - heat pumps provide heating and cooling when needed, while rainwater is collected from the green roof to provide irrigation for some of the landscaping. Built from wood and copper, the lake house discretely hides three boats down below with accordion-style doors.
