Enormous Anglerfish on Wheels Storm Sydney’s VIVID Light Festival in Australia

Follow the Current was easily one of the most exciting installations at this year’s VIVID Sydney festival. Comprised of digitally-printed designs on lycra and chiffon, along with fins, bobble eyes, and giant teeth – all made with about 50 meters of fabric donated by Sublitech – each anglerfish is wrapped around a bicycle fitted with fish-shaped accessories.

Illuminated from within, the fish then “swam” around the city streets, wowing spectators with their otherworldly presence. This is the first time we have featured work by this Australian collective, but we have a very sneaky suspicion that it won’t be the last!

These are awesome! They remind me of the mutant vehicles that cruise the playa at Burning Man…it’s that time of year again, I’m not going and it makes me sad

    Thanks Tafline,
It is really exciting to see our work on the inhabitat website! Can’t beleive you found us! It is quite exciting (and amusing) to be described as ’emergent’! Follow the Current…(the light sculptures) is actually our fist project together!
