From afar, Eric Standley’s pieces look like the windows of a Gothic cathedral. But take a closer look and you’ll discover that they’re made from simple sheets of paper that have been carved away layer by layer with a laser cutter. Each of his mind-blowing pieces are obsessively planned and designed down to the smallest detail.

Eric Standley‘s works are full of colors and delicate curves, so it can take up to 30 hours of laser-cutting and 118 sheets of paper to make one single sculpture. A self-professed “paper architect”, Standley uses structural elements for support and geometry, and he likes adding photographs to reference objects in the natural world.
