Gallery: Escaravox is a Greenhouse-Inspired Pavilion on Wheels in Madri...

The structure is located in Matadero Madrid, former slaughterhouse of the city.

The structure is located in Matadero Madrid, a former slaughterhouse in Madrid’s Arganzuela district that is now used as a multi-functional public space and cultural playground, housing various types of events including live music, performances, movie screenings, parties, etc. It is equipped with stage lighting, sound amplifying and audiovisual projection systems that, in combination with sliding stands, serve as auxiliary structures for any type of cultural event.

Escaravox reappropriates different industrial technologies and deploys them in a cultural context that is both flexible and sustainable. Customized watering systems, the shade fabric and other ready-mades typical of Almería greenhouses constitute the pavilion’s support, shading and conditioning systems. Built from inexpensive materials and set on wheels, the elegantly formed structure looks like a hang glider ready to take off and land in a different part of the city.
