Fingerings: Judith Braun Draws Amazing Carbon Wall Art With Just Her Fingers

Judith Braun employs minimal materials to create these striking pieces of art, using just her fingers dipped in charcoal to draw directly onto the wall.

Since 2004 Braun has been working on her simple but beautiful series "Fingerings", an ongoing project in which she uses the wall as a canvas to explore improvised liberating strokes with her hands.

Her use of the simple material is interesting and without creating waste and excess Braun is free to express herself with gestures and movements, recorded in carbon on the blank wall.

She often uses her body to center herself within a piece and give the work a symmetrical quality. And with her in the middle her works look like elegant wings spreading out from behind her.
