Gallery: Flying Sailboat Soars Through...

Ever wished you could sail through the sky? Designer Damien Grossemy wants to make that dream a reality with his Zep’lin, a flying sailboat designed for Renault. The vertically-built Zep’lin concept features solar panels and on-board lithium ion batteries to store extra energy as it soars up above.

According to the designer, Renault is planning a race around the world in a zeppelin in 2015 as a promotional tool for its line of electric cars. The Zep’lin is Grossemy’s attempt to build a light, aerodynamic structure for the race. No word on whether Grossemy’s design will actually be chosen, but the electric vehicle looks like a fun ride to us! Check out a video of the Zep’lin in action below.

Wow looks like something from Star Wars. What next solar airplanes?

@777rak, solar airplanes exists, we’d just need one with a wing span measured in miles to be commercially viable.

Zeppelins are the future, as is sale ships. We might have to adjust our expectations on how fast we plan on getting to our vacation destinations in the future.
