This home in Balmoral was designed by Sydney-based Fox Johnston Architects as a series of platforms that respond to the rhythm and topography of the site. A long linear form to the west contains sleeping areas and bathrooms on the lower level while the upper level accomodates living areas and a media room. The upper level roof flips up to the north and opens completely onto a northeast-facing deck. Sliding external walls and screens can open and close to provide privacy or sun control. The home’s long, narrow profile and orientation allows good cross ventilation and sun filtration throughout.
