Thousands of wasted plastic bags received a new lease on life thanks to this art project that could last about 500 years.

All of the interiors have been made from trash, including a black sack-covered sofa, a plastic hanging light, and striped curtains that add a slight tint to the dirt-proof table and chairs. A polyethylene pillow and bed covers have also made their way into the home, but we imagine that the could be a bit sweaty at night. Outside, the house also receives a plastic finish, boasting a picnic table and chairs that were transformed with heat-pressed plastic bags.

Inspired by the idea that “nothing can be created or destroyed, everything can only be transformed,” these Italian students managed to create bold new pieces that also educate.
