Gallery: Gorgeous Coastlands House Gets 80% of its Power From the Calif...

Stacking sliding glass windows open to the remarkable view

Remarkably well-connected to the wild seaside landscape, Coastlands House features a magnificent palette of natural materials – including the stone base which connects the home to the uphill slope. Stacking sliding glass doors open out to a gobsmacking view and provide cross ventilation.

The interior is warm, sophisticated and largely comprised of reclaimed materials, while the majority of the carpets and decor were designed specifically for the couple by the Carver + Schicketanz team. And best of all, the potential energy footprint of this majesty is offset by the PV array, ensuring a relatively gentle environmental footprint. This is what we call retiring in style!
