Green-Roofed Floating House by Hyunjoon Yoo Is Feng Shui Approved

The design for this <a href="http://inhabitat.com/baton-rouge-municipal-dock-set-to-revive-mississippi-riverfront/">beautiful riverfront home</a> in South Korea first required approval by a Feng Shui specialist before it could even take shape. He advised the owners to avoid eastward-facing doors, and to ensure that no one lives in the southwest portion of the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/grow-a-lush-green-garden-inside-your-furniture-with-furnibloom/">lush green garden</a>. Once these details were taken care of, <a href="http://www.hyunjoonyoo.com/">Hyunjoo Yoo Architects</a> set about creating a simple, bright, and elegant home that creates harmony with the nearby Bukhan River.

Before the design could be implemented, the owners sought advice from a Feng Shui specialist.

It was suggested that no doors should face east and no one should live in the southwest portion of the garden.

Once the formalities were done, building could proceed.

The home was built on stout concrete blocks to give it plenty of elevation.

In order to maximize views of the adjacent Bukhan River.

The guesthouse blocks out unsightly views of nearby neon restaurants to maintain the harmony between home and its lush natural surroundings.

The home was positioned to allow plenty of light.

Although elegant, the spacious home is quite minimalist.

Although we love this house, we're not doing back flips over the interior decorating.

The green roof, on the other hand, is very exciting.

Everybody got what they wanted with this house: something that felt close to nature, a study, plenty of play areas for the kids, and a home that won't send the energy bill through the green roof.
