Gallery: Hikaru Imamura’s ‘Heat Rescue Disaster Recovery’ Kit Delivers ...

Thinking beyond creating something flashy or fashionable, Japanese designer Hikaru Imamura designed the Heat Rescue Disaster Recovery; an emergency kit packed with essentials for earthquake victims. Inspired by his own country’s plight, Imamura’s design provides water, warmth and hot meals for the people who need it the most.

Recently unveiled at this year’s Milan Design Fair, Imamura’s project was “the hit of the students shows” according to New York Time’s writer Alice Rawsthorn. The kit consists of a storage-transport drum containing basic relief goods such as food, water, rice, work gloves and a towel. The drum also transforms into a cooking appliance and wood stove for comfort heat and cooking hot meals.
