Gallery: Hockenheimer Stool Transforms a Stack of Old Magazines into a ...

Lately we’ve seen some innovative and inspiring ways that designers are upcyling old periodicals. German designers NJU Studio have created a way for consumers to take their own magazines and turn them into the cool and useful Hockenheimer stool. The DIY kit enables you to create a stool of varying heights depending on just how many mags you have lying around. The quirky stool would be a conversation piece in any room, and the possibilities are endless. Stack fashion magazines high and add a bright cushion cover for a girly room. Or take a worldly approach and create a low ottoman of National Geographics. You could even play up the accompanying leather straps’ vintage appeal and use a stack of antique magazines.

The Hockenheimer comes with a low notched base made from natural waxed birch to support the stack of magazines. Two slots are cut on each side to accommodate the adjustable deep brown leather or bright canvas straps that keep stacks in place. Top all that off with the accompanying natural cotton cushion, and you’ve got eco-style for any room!
