• House of Books by Janet Cardiff and Bures Miller
Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller created this incredible literary construction made from hundreds of recycled books turned into impromptu bricks. Commissioned by Modern Art Oxford and the Fruitmarket Gallery in 2008, the house is an abstract library concept made entirely out of old books. The spines of the books face out to form a solid shell, while the pages face into the structure to create a "library turned in on itself". The house doesn't feature any windows, so it's completely shut off from any worldly distractions.
