INHABITAT T-Shirt Design Competition!

by , 04/04/07

INHABITAT TShirt Design Competition, Inhabitat Design Competition, T.S. Designs, Branch, Eco-friendly TShirt printing, Green design, Eco Design, Sustainable Design, Eco friendly screen printing, green fabric printing, water based screen printing

In honor of Inhabitat’s recent two-year-birthday we are launching our first ever design competition – a green T-shirt design contest!

We have always wanted our very own eco-friendly Inhabitat T-shirt, incorporating organic cotton, water-based inks and a super cute design, to illustrate our mission of green design = good design. We know that our readers are a creative and future-forward bunch, so we thought it a perfect opportunity to open it up to our readers and see what you can do. Show off your design skills and promote the cause of sustainable style at the same time. You could even win some fabulous prizes in the process!

Submission Deadline: APRIL 20th

  7. christopher christopher says:

Does anyone know the pms color for the inhabitat green? Thank you!

  8. Jill Fehrenbacher Jill says:

    Hi Chris-

We don’t have a set PMS color, as we work with gradients and most of our designs have been for the web up until this point. I think its safe to say you can just eyeball the colors of the site and the colors of the logos, and if you eyedrop that, it should be close enough.

Also – here’s an addendum for those who are planning to submit their designs:

Just because we have provided 4 different Inhabitat logos doesn’t mean you should use all 4 together. We are only providing a lot of different options to give you flexibility. You really only need to use 1 or 2 max. You definitely don’t need both the logotype and the square logo – and the owl…..and the bamboo…..it’s overkill…

Also – we are looking for YOUR DESIGNS – your unique ideas and/or your unique illustrations. Simply slapping our logo or our owl on a blank T-shirt doesn’t count as “design” – in order to have your design considered you need to actually bring something new to the illustrations we have already created – whether its an interesting arrangement, new illustration, new tagline, or completely new design. Otherwise we would just do this ourselves and not run a competition.

We have received some very good design proposals so far, but we have also received a lot white T-shirts with our logo slapped on the front. So, just wanted to provide some more specific feedback while you all still have one week left.

    Good luck!
    -Jill

Is it possible to use your logo in just one colour? (Black or white) Thank you!

  11. Jorge Chapa Jorge says:

I don’t think that’s a problem, it’s creative designs that which we want to encourage, so if you feel that the logo should be in black and white for your design to work, or if you think ponies are what’s needed or perhaps you wish to do a Warhol inspired pastiche, knock yourself out and have fun.

  12. JULIA JULIA says:

    i have two questions:
    1) about the logos: Can i download the one that fits me better on my work?
Do the colors need to be specifically these ones or can i change them according to my design?

    2) about the t- shirt: Is a t-shirt exactly like the one you are expossing or my design needs to provide a new design for the t-sht
Do i need to put all the technical and productive info required to achieve the t-shirt?
i mean, diagrams, material composites, percents of the colors, measures….
    by last
It could be done in any design program or is it one recomended?
    thank you

  13. Frida Bond Frida Bond says:

    hi,

I was wondering if you guys had a ‘physical address’ where I could mail my shirt design.

  14. erika erika says:

I am wondering if you require the jpgs at 500×500 pixels at 72dpi and also at another bigger size… I ask because that is a really tiny resolution and you may not be able to get all the details from that size.

  15. chris chris says:

can we submit 2 500×500 72 dpi images … one for the front and one for the back (of the same shirt) … or should an entire submission occur on one 500×500 image?

    thank you.

  16. erika erika says:

any direction on the size of the file???

  17. Alfredo Alfredo says:

One question…….when will we know how the competition is going….who is the favarite…and so on….when will we know who is the winner ?…

  18. Jill Fehrenbacher Jill says:

Thanks for the reminder Alfredo, I think I forgot to mention this – WE WILL ANNOUNCE FINALISTS NEXT WEEK – and let readers vote on the finalists.

    Good luck!
    Jill

  19. Jill Fehrenbacher Jill says:

    Erika & Chris-

The point of the file size as a jpeg at 500X500 is so we can view it in gmail without having to download the file and open it in another program. You can submit as many of these as you want – and if they need to be 600X600 that is okay too. But if they are 3000 pixels wide and if your file is difficult to download/open/view, you can bet that some of the judges may not take the time to look at your submission.

  20. Alfredo Alfredo says:

i gues that we now sitt and wait for the telephon to ring…. :-)

  21. Carlyle Carlyle says:

I missed the deadline! =( do they accept lates??

  22. David David says:

    Carlyle,

I submitted yesterday, as I only found out about the competition then (missed the original post). I’m hoping that’s alright, for both your and my sake.

  23. bhairavi bhairavi says:

    Hi,
    Good luck everyone!!!!

    eager to know the winner.

  24. Steven Steven says:

I got this sense that something would happen on the 24th “Finalists will be announced next week – April 24th, and readers will have the opportunity to vote on the winning designs starting next week.”. I figure they were stunned by all the great logo submissions from everybody and could not move on that day. Or the totality of all that raw artistic energy might have sent them over the edge and got them doing WHO KNOWS WHAT. I know they could not have merely forgotten about us…

  25. Emily Pilloton Emily says:

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for your patience- we’re weeding through all your wonderful entries and will be contacting finalists in the next few days to request some additional file formats necessary for public voting. Stay tuned! Public voting will begin early next week. Thanks again for all your participation,

  32. markniklas Markniklas says:

Sports compression garments are more than just simple training uniforms. While compression garments are highly useful even in sports trainings, they also play a role in post operation recovery. With this kind of apparel, recovery from surgeries and injuries may just be a lot faster and relatively pain-free

  33. markniklas markniklas says:

If you like the clotches and they fit and you feel comfortable in them, they shuld be alright. Don’t mind that therapist..
