Gallery: Japan’s Modi-Corp Unveils Build-It-Yourself Pius Electric Car!

Japan’s Modi-Corp has just unveiled a new electric car called the Pius that you can actually build yourself! The Pius, not to be confused with the Toyota Prius, is a single-seat electric car that will be released next spring as a class-1 motorized bicycle in Japan. Modi-Corp expects to sell the Pius primarily to colleges and mechanic schools, where students will be able to see firsthand how electric cars work.

The diminutive Pius measures 98-inches long and 48-inches wide, so obviously it’s not in the same class as the Nissan Leaf and Honda Fit EVs. Not all of the official specs have been released, but the Pius does have an electric range of 15 miles and a top speed of 21 mph. The Pius will be available in six colors when it is released next spring, but the final pricing has not been announced.
