Artist Javier Riera creates these brilliant temporary works of art by projecting geometric patterns onto the natural landscape. The Spanish artist makes these creative interventions to explore the relationship between geometry and nature. Using only the medium of projection for his art, Riera does not make any permanent artistic mark on the environment and instead captures the momentary light installations in his stunning series of photographs. Riera’s interesting shapes are dynamic and unusual, and they interrupt the otherwise natural scene before the viewer. They add new shapes to the wild silhouette of trees and bushes and break up the natural colors and shades of the landscape with dramatic blocks of color. His work also distorts the shape of the space in the photograph by introducing new forms.

A big part of the beauty of Riera’s installations is their transience. Riera himself acknowledges this and says that his interventions are “ephemeral and don’t leave any tracks upon the landscape, they happen and they disappear.”
