Remote. Modest. Small. All of these words begin to describe Johnsen Schmaling Architects’ award-winning Stacked Cabin located in a rural Wisconsin forest outside of Muscoda. This 880-square-foot cabin houses a young family who came to Johnsen Schmaling looking for a simple structure on a tight budget. Little did they know that this structure would be awarded three times in 2012 for an AIA Honor Award, a Residential Architect Design Award, and a National AIA Small Projects Award .
