Gallery: Jon Salerno’s Habitat Micro Home Uses a Car as an Extra Room

Do you live out of your car? Now you can quite literally do so with designer Jon Salerno’s Habitat micro home, which uses a small car docked underneath to add another room of living space. Salerno’s Habitat is 100 square feet, which when added to the reconfigurable space inside the car totals 132 square feet.

The Habitat home and vehicle are also able to power each other up, storing and feeding energy back and forth from solar and wind power sources. The home’s roof is lined with adjustable solar panels. It may not be the most comfortable idea for a permanent living space, but the Habitat has possibilities for micro hotel or other travel applications.
