Lee Broom’s Crystal Bulb Shop Dazzles at the London Design Festival

    The streets of East London have plenty of boutiques and galleries, but an old-fashioned general store, complete with a mahogany counter and sawdust floor, is an unusual sight. For <a href="http://inhabitat.com/london-design-week/">London Design Festival</a> 2012, rising English design star <a href="http://leebroom.com/">Lee Broom</a> completely transformed his Rivington Street showroom into The <a href="http://inhabitat.com/the-crystal-bulb-is-a-dazzling-gem-cut-led-light-bulb-made-from-cumbria-crystal/">Crystal Bulb</a> Shop using vintage and upcycled materials.     The fixtures included reclaimed parts of an English pub, previously used for Lee Broom’s highly successful solo show at Milan’s Salone del Mobile.

    More than 200 Crystal Bulbs were on display. The detachable lead crystal bulb encases a G9 LED Lamp.

    Lee Broom, who started out in theatre school before studying fashion at Central St Martins and then going into interior design, launched his furniture studio four years ago.

    This is the third year that Lee Broom has transformed his showroom into a completely new space for the London Design Festival. Last year's space was a sleek and lounge-like salon.
