LIKE Architect’s LEDscape is an Interactive Maze of Glowing LED Bulbs in Lisbon

    Over the holidays <a href="http://likearchitects.com/" target="_blank">LIKE Architects</a> were hard at work on a new lighting installation as part of a scheme to introduce IKEA's new <a href="http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/rooms_ideas/find_the_right_light_bulb/light_bulb.html#ledare" target="_blank">LED Ledare light bulb</a>. <a href="http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.577932735556880.148145.134191799930978&amp;type=3" target="_blank">LEDscape</a> combines thousands of IKEA lamps and bulbs into an interactive maze at the Belém Cultural Centre in Lisbon, Portugal. The temporary installation was so popular that the initial run of a few weeks was extended through the 2012 holiday season.

    LIKE Architects has worked with IKEA before last year when they took thousands of plastic bag dispensers to create <a href="http://inhabitat.com/frozen-trees-made-of-1000s-of-ikea-plastic-bag-dispensers-light-up-lisbon/" target="_blank">"Frozen Trees"</a>.

    Their latest project was part of a plan to introduce IKEA's line of energy efficient LED bulbs - specifically the <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/lighting/20514/" target="_blank">Ledare Bulb series</a>.

    There are a number of different LEDARE bulb, which use as low as 4.5 W up to 8.5 W of power.

    LEDscape is made up of 1,200 Ledare bulbs and 1,200 Hemma floor lamp bases in a range of heights.
