Gallery: Lindal Launches New ‘Ar...

We are happy to be the first to announce that Lindal Cedar Homes has just launched their Lindal Architects Collaborative, an innovative new prefab home collection featuring designs from the world's leading architects. The line, which will feature prefab systems designed by 12 architects, will not only make modern design more accessible, but will make architecture previously reserved for the more affluent financially accessible to the masses. While new firms will be added to the Collaborative each quarter throughout 2012 as they complete and introduce their designs, the first five have just been unveiled and include the likes of Marmol RadzinerAltius Architecture, Bates Masi + Architects, The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture Taliesin West (practicing professionals with graduate students), and Lindal Cedar Homes. Hit the jump to learn more about Lindal's groundbreaking new initiative, which embodies the spirit of modernism and what the movement has continually sought to achieve!

Marmol Radziner for Architects Collaborative

The collaboration is reminiscent of the Case Study Program that took place in Los Angeles during the mid-20th century, which produced some of architecture’s most iconic homes from the period’s most noted architects. And like the Case Study homes, the new series of post and beam structures have been designed to respond to the natural environment, be open, flexible and practical, and energy and cost efficient.

The Lindal Architects Collaborative is focusing in on reaching Gen-X buyers who place great value on excellent architectural design and believe in environmental responsibility. The customized designs available can be completely constructed for $200-250 per square foot, and even more impressively, prospective buyers can immediately receive the pricing and plans they need to take to the bank to evaluate their financing options. The plans can be produced through Lindal with just a small deposit of under $2 per square foot, making the first steps to green prefab home ownership very low risk and near non-committal.

“The challenged economy and the tightening of mortgage money have forced consumers to seek approaches with more predictability, in which they have more control, and in which the efficient use of material, time and financial resources are a top priority,” says Michael Harris, former Lindal CEO, consultant, and creator of the Lindal Architects Collaborative. “Architectural practices, feeling the pinch, are seeking opportunities to broaden their reach and increase revenues without increasing overhead proportionately.”
