Sometimes just the smallest intervention can change the whole character of a home, like this beautiful aluminum addition in Utrecht. Called the Lighthouse and designed by<a href="http://www.bytr.nl/">BYTR Architects</a>, the Dutch home's mesh-wrapped top floor floods the interior with <a href="http://inhabitat.com/seattles-ballard-library-pairs-a-sweeping-green-roof-with-natural-light/">diffused natural lighting</a>. At night, the panels are back-lit and give off a lovely ethereal glow that the neighbors are surely jealous of.
